Your health insurance provider offers ‘Known Gap’ Cover.

This means:

  • My office will claim all rebates (Medicare and health fund rebates) on your behalf.

  • You will only need to pay the gap, rather than the full anaesthetic fee.

Please note, if for any reason your health insurance provider does not pay the full rebates, you will be invoiced for the difference.

Your health insurance provider has a ‘No Gap Only’ Policy.

This means:

  • You will need to pay the full anaesthetic fee.

  • Once your account has been settled in full, our office will issue you a receipt. Where applicable, this receipt will enable you to claim your rebates from Medicare and your health insurance provider.

You are  …

  • As a self-funding patient you are required to pay the full anaesthetic fee.

  • Once your account is finalised, our office will send you a receipt.

You may exceed the Maximum Allowable Gap if

  • Your procedure was long and/or complex and your ‘gap’ payment exceeded the maximum allowable gap of $500 set by your health insurance provider.

  • We will not be able to claim any rebates on your behalf.

  • The full anaesthesia fees are your personal responsibility to pay.

  • Once you have paid your account in full, our office will send you a receipt. Where applicable, this receipt will enable you to claim your rebates from Medicare and your health insurance provider.

Please note, in this instance your total rebate depends on your health insurance provider.
